Walk a Cottage Lake Street
A Cottage Lake street directory search should move from the address to the parcel, then from the parcel to dated name evidence. eReal Property may show the owner on the current assessment account, while Landmark shows parties to recorded deeds and other instruments. Neither source automatically lists every occupant. An authorized voter check or a historical reverse directory can add a resident clue, but its date and coverage must match the address. Save the physical situs address separately from the mailing address because Woodinville may appear as the postal city even when King County remains the legal jurisdiction.
- Standardize the street number, direction, suffix, unit, postal city, and ZIP with USPS. Keep the original form too, since older sources may use it.
- Search King County eReal Property or Parcel Viewer. Record the PIN, situs address, legal description, assessment owner, and jurisdiction.
- Zoom to the same block in iMap. Click parcels one at a time, noting roads, streams, rights-of-way, and district boundaries rather than assuming visual proximity.
- Enter the first ten PIN digits in Recorder Landmark. Search each grantor and grantee name plus the legal description when parcel indexing is thin.
- Check permits, code cases, an authorized voter record, and reverse directories for dated links between names and the address.
This street-by-street order reduces false matches. A common surname can occur on several parcels, and one legal lot can gain a new address or PIN over time. The address-to-PIN-to-deed chain gives each later result a fixed geographic reference.
Cottage Lake Address Search Fields
King County provides three complementary address tools. eReal Property accepts an address or parcel number and may offer a condo-name option. Parcel Viewer accepts an address or PIN and lets the user select a parcel. The Property and Permit Guide separates its controls into parcel number and street address plus ZIP. These fields matter because a street label can find the correct map feature while the PIN carries that feature into deeds, permits, and archive requests.
| Official tool | Search field | Observed control | Street result |
|---|---|---|---|
| eReal Property | Address or parcel number | Text, Go, Reset | Assessment account and property detail |
| eReal Property | Condo name | Search option | Alternate route for a named development |
| Parcel Viewer | Address or parcel number | Text search or map click | Geometry, PIN, and linked county reports |
| Property and Permit Guide | Street address and ZIP | Find by Address | Unincorporated property and permit route |
The King County Assessor search presents the first address-or-PIN choice used for Cottage Lake.
The blank portal view documents the search controls without exposing a household. Record the date because assessment values and displayed owners can change.
Map Cottage Lake Streets by PIN
Parcel Viewer and iMap turn a street address into mapped geometry. In iMap, Basic Search accepts an address, parcel, intersection written with an ampersand, or a place and landmark. After zooming in, click each red parcel outline to inspect it. More than one hundred layers cover property, political, planning, and natural-resource themes. Historic aerial basemaps can show when a building footprint or road alignment appeared, but an aerial shape is only a lead for a permit or property-card request.
The official documentation did not reveal a one-click tool that returns every adjacent parcel. Build a street list by selecting parcels one at a time. Capture the map date, scale, north direction, PIN, and legal description. A road, stream, easement, or irregular line can separate lots that seem to touch at one zoom level.
The King County Parcel Viewer supplies the mapped parcel bridge for by-address research.
Its selected-parcel links lead to assessment details and the district report, which keeps physical adjacency separate from postal or voting geography.
Cottage Lake Postal Street Clues
Cottage Lake's mailing labels can break a simple street search. USPS created ZIP 98077 on July 1, 2003 for 6,526 deliveries moved from 98072. An older directory, deed return address, or business filing can therefore show 98072 while a later record shows 98077. Both may use Woodinville as the preferred postal city. King County's ZIP polygons, the Census CDP boundary, and municipal limits remain separate geographies.
Search both ZIP forms around the change date, but never treat either as proof that a parcel lies inside Woodinville. Use USPS to verify delivery format and the county district report to identify jurisdiction. The county ZIP layer also records edits in 2022 and 2023 around 98072, 98077, and 98052. No official source in the research confirmed a specific Cottage Lake CDP intersection with 98052, so verify that ZIP parcel by parcel.
Cottage Lake Permits by Address
Unincorporated Cottage Lake parcels use King County's permit and code-enforcement routes. The Property and Permit Guide accepts either a parcel number or a street address with ZIP. County permit records may cover active, finalized, and closed permits through the online portal or an emailed research request. The portal requires an account. For material not exposed online, send the completed Research Request Form to Permitrecords@kingcounty.gov with the address, PIN, record type, and date range.
Code enforcement is a separate search with parcel number, site address, or case number. Complaints can be anonymous, and case files receive confidentiality and privilege review. A search box does not prove that a case exists. If the parcel report identifies an incorporated city rather than King County, the city becomes the permit custodian. This is why jurisdiction belongs near the start of every Cottage Lake address workflow.
Note: Save both the street address and PIN when asking for a permit, since one may have changed while the other still bridges the file.
Cottage Lake Street Record Coverage
A Cottage Lake by-street search combines records that were not created as one household roll. Their date ranges and meanings differ. The Assessor gives a current assessment lead. GIS fixes the mapped lot and jurisdiction. Landmark connects named parties to recorded instruments. Permits document work at a site. Voter verification and reverse directories can add dated occupancy clues within their own access limits.
| Address-keyed source | Cottage Lake keeper | Street evidence | Access route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assessment account | King County Assessor | Situs, PIN, owner shown, legal description, values, sale leads | Free eReal portal |
| Parcel maps and districts | King County GIS | Lot geometry, adjacent parcels, jurisdiction, ZIP, districts, watershed | Free Parcel Viewer, iMap, and report |
| Recorded instruments | King County Recorder and Archives | Deed parties, dates, easements, plats, surveys, legal descriptions | Free index; paid images; archive microfilm |
| Voter verification | King County Elections | Authorized current registration and district connection | Three-of-four-field match |
| Permit and code files | King County Local Services | Active, closed, or finalized work and reviewed case records | Portal, email request, or PRA request |
| Reverse directories | SPL, State Library, and KCLS routes | Dated household or business entries by street and number | Digital browse, library, or copy request |
The PIN ties current maps, assessment data, and many permit records together. The legal description carries the trail backward when parcel numbers change. Street name and house number link later directories and USPS records, while a name provides the path through grantor and grantee books. Keep those keys in separate columns so a mailing address is never mistaken for the physical site.
Deeds Along Cottage Lake Streets
Recorder Landmark is the main deed-chain tool for modern Cottage Lake streets. Its index begins in 1976, and images exist for most documents recorded on or after August 1, 1991. Search tabs cover name, document type, book and page, consideration, parcel ID, recording date, recording number, legal description, and Torrens number. Parcel search uses the first ten PIN digits and generally finds parcel-indexed documents from 1997 forward. Earlier indexing can be uneven, especially before about 2002.
Start with the newest deed, confirm the legal description, then search the seller as a prior grantee and repeat. A grantor gives the recorded interest; a grantee receives it. Keep deeds distinct from liens, assignments, releases, easements, surveys, covenants, and deeds of trust. When the PIN search goes quiet, use party names, dates, plats, and legal descriptions instead of deciding the chain has ended.
The King County Landmark portal exposes the tabs needed to follow a street parcel backward.
The screen documents search options, while the Recorder and Archives provide copies through online purchase, mail, or archival research when an image is not posted.
Cottage Lake Street Grid Rules
King County Code chapter 16.08 sets the county address grid and the system for new or reassigned addresses. The scheme generally places even numbers on north and east sides and odd numbers on south and west sides. A notice process applies when an address is reassigned. These rules can help test whether an old address fits a road, but they do not prove that the modern number existed in an earlier directory year.
No official Cottage Lake-specific road-renaming or mass-renumbering list was found. Treat that absence as a research gap. For an old rural route, capture the road name, nearby intersection, township and range, section, legal description, former owner, school district, and watershed. Then compare deeds, plats, aerials, directories, and newspapers. Do not force an old address into today's grid without a dated bridge.
- Parcel
- A mapped unit of land with a county PIN and legal description.
- Situs address
- The physical site address, which may differ from an owner's mailing address.
- Plat
- A recorded map that divides land into lots, blocks, roads, or easements.
- Criss-cross directory
- A directory organized by street and house number, useful for dated occupant clues.
Cottage Lake Reverse Directory Trail
Reverse directories can add occupants after the parcel and deed chain are known. Seattle Public Library's 1928 House and Street Directory is an early regional reverse-address example, and its physical Seattle Room holdings have reverse listings beginning in 1938. The Washington State Library lists King County and suburban directory runs, but no official Cottage Lake-specific volume was located. Inspect the actual year and geographic coverage before treating a search hit as local.
Search the house number and every road or postal variant. A record might use Woodinville, a rural route, a nearby place name, or an earlier ZIP. Directory entries can give a resident or household name, address, occupation, business, organization, advertisement, and year context. Then test the name against a deed, school census, newspaper, marriage, voter, or parcel clue. The Cottage Lake city directory collections explain the regional shelves without turning them into a modern owner list.
Cottage Lake Records Before 1991
The online image cutoff is a useful stopping rule. When a Cottage Lake street deed predates August 1, 1991, King County Archives becomes the main route. It holds recorded originals through July 31, 1991, microfilm, and the General Recordings Index. The older grantor and grantee books are not a public full-text database. Research them on site by name and date or by recording number. Plats from 1853 forward and surveys from 1973 forward may appear in Landmark, but not every parcel has a survey.
Archives describes microfilm access without an appointment, while other archival material requires one. Its research room is at 1215 E Fir Street in Seattle, with published Tuesday and Wednesday research hours, phone 206-263-2480, and archives@kingcounty.gov. Puget Sound Regional Archives also holds property cards from 1937 through 1972 and older tax material keyed by parcel or legal description. Those cards can show building facts, a sketch, or a photo, but not a complete title history.
Cottage Lake Street Directory Limits
No Cottage Lake street directory can identify every person who lives behind each door. The Assessor may name an owner who lives elsewhere. A deed names parties to an instrument, not all occupants. Current voter access is limited, requires matching information, and omits protected fields. Directory volumes have gaps and may use broad regional labels. Court, permit, business, and credential addresses each reflect the purpose and date of that record rather than a complete household.
Washington's Address Confidentiality Program supplies a substitute address to eligible participants, and actual protected addresses follow special disclosure rules. Court records may be sealed or restricted. Driver information is not a public address directory. The lack of a portal hit can also mean a spelling variant, old road name, changed PIN, archive-only file, or protected record. Report it as no result in the named source on the search date, not as proof that a person never lived there.
Lawful use. Cottage Lake address records may be used for lawful personal, family, property, and civic research. Never use them to stalk, harass, intimidate, or harm a person.
A careful final note states the record keeper, search fields, date checked, and unresolved conflict. That preserves the useful evidence without claiming more than the Cottage Lake street search actually showed.
